Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has 'peppered' his countryman Karim Benzema in return after rocking a stunning Ferrari to training.

The 33-year-old who recently signed a one-year contract extension to remain at Stamford Bridge was said to have received a harsh jibe from the Real Madrid forward two months ago.

Benzema made a damning comparison between the two stars after likening the gulf between them to that of a Formula One car against a go-kart.

Los Blancos star during an Instagram live interview said about Giroud that: "This won’t take long. “You don’t confuse F1 with go-karting. And I’m being kind. Next... and I know I’m F1.

It works because he’s there. That’s all. It’s not going to be spectacular, it’s not going to be anything crazy but in his way you see more of Griezmann or Mbappe because he will put the work in.

Does everyone like that way of playing? I don’t know.”

Benzema has been frozen out of the French national team since 2015 following the role he played in an alleged assault blackmail drama involving Mathieu Valbuena.

Giroud on the other hand was part of the Les Blues team that won the FIFA World Cup in Russia two years ago. He remains Didier Deschamps' number one striker as he closes in on 100 caps.

SunSport reports that the London club returned to training on Tuesday but are working out in groups to ensure they avoid contracting or sharing deadly coronavirus ahead of Premier League return which is expected back on June 12.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Reports coming from Stamford Bridge have it that goalkeeper Willy Caballero, as well as striker Olivier Giroud, will remain at the club for another one year.

Argentine goalkeeper Caballero who have featured for the Blues nine times this season reportedly signed a contract extension back in April during the lockdown.

This implies that the goalie will now be having a fourth season at the Stamford Bridge club where he already won the Europa League and the FA Cup.
