Heartbreaking video drops as Trotro catches fire on Achimota-Kumasi Highway

- A 'trotro' has caught fire and burnt to ashes on the Achimota-Kumasi Highway

- It was headed toward the Kumasi direction

- The incident attracted many people to the scene who came around to try to bring the fire under control

A ‘trotro’ has been gutted by fire and burnt to ashes on the morning of Saturday, May 23, 2020.

From the direction of the vehicle seen in the video by YEN.com.gh, the ‘trotro’ was heading toward the Kumasi Highway.

As seen by YEN in the video, the 'trotro' has been completely burnt to ashes.

This caused massive traffic in the area as both vehicles and humans struggled to get the situation under control.

Many people were heard screaming as the fire kept spreading with thick smoke filling the air.

This happened near the exact spot where the Melcom Strategy occurred some years ago.

YEN.com.gh has gathered that the accident was caused when a long vehicle loaded with charcoal had a brake failure and broke into the 'trotro'.

The passengers onboard both vehicles escaped unhurt and were rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, some accidents of the same kind have happened recently.

In an earlier report by YEN.com.gh, a bus caught fire on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

That accident recorded a total of 3 deaths and 20 others who were severely injured.

There was another accident on the Kintampo-Kumasi Highway which also claimed lots of lives.

Yet again, another accident occurred on the Accra-Cape Coast Highway which also recorded lost of lives.
