Rawlings officially announces the demise of his mother Madam Victoria Agbotui

Former president, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, has officially informed the general public of the demise of his mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui.

In a Facebook post sighted by YEN.com.gh, the former president confirmed that she died in the early hours of Thursday, September 24, 2020.

Rawlings, the Anlo State, as well as the Agbotui and allied families, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all who have and still continue to mourn with them and express their sympathies.

The family however, requests all to respect their privacy during this difficult period and call 0264444464 to secure appointments in case of visits.

Details of the funeral of Madam Agbotui will soon be communicated by the family in due course.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the mother of former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, Madam Victoria Agbotui, had died.

Sources close to the Rawlings family indicated that Madam Agbotui had been unwell for some time.

Social media users have sympathised with the former president and his family.

Francis Mendy was sorry for his loss.

May her soul rest in peace. Sorry for your loss your Excellency. May God grant you the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Saambo James Dayini prayed for a peaceful remorse of the woman.

My condolence to His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings and the entire family. May the soul of our Grandmother Rest in Perfect Peace with Her Creator.

In other news, on September 9, 2020, she was joined by her friends to celebrate her 101st birthday.

Many photos of her 101st birthday popped up and trended on social media.

The photos had the former President Rawlings' mother in the midst of many others, including her son, her daughter-in-law, Nana Konadu Agyemang, a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Campbell, among others.

Madam Victoria Agbotui has been firmly behind her son in all aspects of his life including his political career.

She first appeared in the political scene when her son staged a coup in 1979.
