Former US President Barack Obama did not want to carry forward the sins of his father when his two kids Sasha and Malia came into his life.

He grew up with an absent dad and felt the repercussions every single day. That was not a life Obama wanted for his girls.

So he made a decision to be better, more present, more involved and more active in the lives of his princesses.

In an Instagram post seen by YEN.com.gh, the father of two said despite running a country for two terms, he always made sure he sat for dinner with his family.

It was a tradition he did not want to default from and the former US leader always found a way to be at the dining table at 6.30pm.

“The fact that my own father was largely absent from my childhood helped shape my ideas about the kind of father I intended to be. When Malia was born, I made a promise to myself that my kids would know me,” he wrote.

The 59-year-old said living above his office made everything easy and he would quickly dash off to his residence when it was time to be with his ladies.

Obama added that he and his three girls always caught up on how their day had been and he loved seeing Malia and Sasha grow into intelligent young women.

“I am reminded constantly that there is no place in the world I would rather be than with Michelle and our girls,” the proud husband added.

It was earlier reported that Michelle Obama said when the pandemic kicked in, she and her husband started staying with their daughters after being apart for months.

At first, it was all fun and games and they would take cocktails together.

With time, it became suffocating and they had to move to a bigger place so everyone could have their space.
