Gov't would put out reopening date for schools before the year ends - Oppong Nkrumah

Most parents are earnestly looking forward to the day it would be announced that their wards would resume school after the long break.
The anxiety on the side of the parents and that of their wards makes the wait for a definite date quite important.
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has revealed that the decision to reopen schools will be decided by government on December 30.
Oppong Nkrumah said President Akufo-Addo is receiving briefings from the COVID-19 Technical Taskforce on limited school re-openings.
He is however, confident that Nana Addo will make a firm decision on whether or not schools should reopen after the briefings.

When the coronavirus cases were surging in March 2020 after some few cases were recorded, the president on March 15, 2020 announced the closure of schools until further notice.
In a bid to make room for final year students to prepare adequately for their exit examinations, they were asked to go back o school to study for six weeks in order to sit for the exams.
The decision by the president brought up a lot concerns from parents and guardians who felt it was not right to put their wards in danger all in the name of academics.
That not withstanding, government did not relent on its decision to make students return to school for their exams and for continuing students to complete their academic terms.
Addressing the press, Oppong Nkrumah said schools have to be opened in a careful manner so that a second wave of infection is not recorded.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Medical Association ( GMA) has however expressed concerns over the attitude of the law enforcement officials in the fight against COVID-19.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GMA, Dr Paa Kwasi Baidoo, admonished the Police officers who are supposed to enforce the law on mask-wearing and are themselves not wearing them.
