Akuapem Poloo: Halifax questions Akufo-Addo's role in actress' release; Ghanaians 'blast' him

A journalist with, Halifax Ansah-Addo, has questioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's involvement in the temporary release of actress Akuapem Poloo from prison.
On Friday, April 23, Poloo, born Rosemond Brown, was finally released from prison some three days after she was granted bail by the High Court in Accra pending an appeal of an earlier conviction at the Circuit Court.
The High Court granted her bail in the sum of GHc80,000 with two sureties. She is to report to the case investigator every two weeks and is to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.

On Saturday, April 24, she addressed the media where amongst other issues, she expressed her gratitude to people including Akufo-Addo for his help in getting her released.
During an interview, Ansah-Addo asked the president to come clear on any role he played in Poloo's release.
"Unless the president did something beyond the sympathy and compassion, that is what we need to be clear," the journalist said on UTV's United Showbiz.
"The President has a man called Eugene Arhin who is his Communication Director, come and tell us what did the President do about Akuapem Poloo's case."

In other news, The father of Akuapem Poloo's son, Rashid Yakubu, has popped up for the first time on social media.
Yakubu appeared in the public eye for an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM on Friday, April 23, 2021. Photos of Yakubu show him to be a clean-shaved man (bald) with a beard dressed in a white v-neck t-shirt.
