Dumsor is not our fault; we supply enough Gas to VRA- Ghana Gas distances itself from power cuts

- Ghana Gas has refuted claims that the power cuts Ghanaians are experiencing is a result of their operations

- The company said it is no fault of the compressors at its installations at the Takoradi Regulatory and Metering Station

- They stressed that its work schedule of supplying gas to the Volta River Authority has not been interrupted

Despite the incessant intermittent power cuts the country is currently experiencing, several stakeholders in the energy sector do not think it is what Ghanaians think.

The Head of Corporate Communications at Ghana Gas, Ernest Owusu Bempah, has refuted claims that there is dumsor.

Owusu Bempah said it is no fault of the compressors at the company’s installations at the Takoradi Regulatory and Metering Station (TRMS).

In a StarrNews report, Owusu Bempah said the power outages being experienced in some parts of the country have nothing to do with Ghana Gas as is being speculated.

He stressed that the company’s work schedule of supplying gas to the Volta River Authority has not been interrupted.

“Ghana Gas has got nothing to do with what is going on. It is an activity of maintenance that is going on at the GRIDCO end of the power value chain,” he said.

Meanwhile, the government says it has put in place systematic plans to stabilise and create consistency and reliability in the country’s power sector.

There have been intermittent power outages in parts of the country since the beginning of the year due to inherent challenges in the transmission and distribution aspects of the power sector.

The minority in parliament accused the Akufo-Addo administration of destroying the legacy of Mahama in the energy sector.

At a press conference organised by the minority caucus in the lawmaking chamber, former Energy Minister, John Jinapor said the actions and inactions of the administration led to the return to the current power crisis.
