FixTheCountry protestors, Police clash at Accra High Court; judge forced to put the case on hold

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that #FixTheCountry protesters and some officers of the Ghana Police Service clashed at the premises of the Accra High Court on Friday.
The protesters who were at the court for the hearing of their case accused the police of preventing them from entering the court.

Conveners of the social media protest dubbed #FixTheCountry were set to hit the street on May 9, 2021, YEN.com.gh earlier reported.
They wrote to the police to notify them of their intention to storm the streets of the capital in demand of an end to the excruciating hardships in the country.
The police, however, secured an ex parte injunction against the massive demonstration.
They are, therefore, in court to challenge the injunction secured by police, praying the court allows them to protest.
They called on sympathisers to embark on a march to the Criminal Division of the High Court as a sign of solidarity ahead of the hearing in a statement.
“We intend to meet up and walk together from the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Building at 9 am towards the High Court,” the statement seen by YEN.com.gh said.
The expected peaceful march, however, became chaotic, forcing the judge presiding over the matter to put the case on hold to allow the lawyers of the agitating youth to intervene, Myjoyonline reported.
