Gov't to pay NPP's Chairman Wontumi US$1bn judgement debt - Jacob Osei Yeboah
The government of Ghana is set to cough up a billion-dollar judgement debt to the Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Chairman Wontumi.

The judgement debt is in relation to a 2013 invasion of Hansol Mining Limited by an inter-ministerial taskforce charged to clampdown on the activities of illegal miners.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi, is the Managing Director of HANSOL Mining Limited.

The revelation was made by Jacob Osei Yeboah, the only independent candidate in last year’s general elections.
“The State has to pay US$1billion to Wontumi because of all the things that they destroyed. They destroyed his excavators and other things. They also distributed some of his equipment among NDC footsoldiers to go and do ‘galamsey’,” he said.
