Two Brothers Promoted on the Same Day at KNUST: “This Is Awesome”

  • Two brothers who are lecturers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) got promoted on the same day
  • Prof Christian Obirikorang and Prof Kwasi Obirikorang are the first and third sons of their mother, respectively
  • Social media users who read the development on social media congratulated the two and wished them well

Prof Christian Obirikorang and Prof Kwasi Obirikorang were promoted to the next level on the academic ladder on the same day at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Prof Christian Obirikorang and Dr Kwasi Obirikorang were promoted to Professor and Associate Professor, respectively, on the very same day.

This is not the first time the two brothers have shared the limelight in their academic journey. The two Obirikorang brothers stood side by side when they received their MPhil and PhD degrees.

After some years, they got promoted together, first to Senior Lecturer, then to Associate Professor.

In September 2025, they became a topic for discussion again when they were both promoted to Professor and Associate Professor, on the very same day.

Prof Christian Obirikorang is a trained Laboratory Scientist with a specialisation in Chemical Pathology.

Meanwhile, Prof Kwasi Obirikorang describes himself as a young environmental researcher with a particular interest in aquatic ecotoxicological studies and surveys, biomonitoring of aquatic pollution.

In a Facebook post, the mother of the two men said she was grateful to God for helping her sons. She applauded them for their hard work.

“My heart is full of gratitude to the Almighty God for this journey He has taken my boys (now men) through!! Yes, Years ago I witnessed your graduations at the KNUST auditorium, same day, same time, same hour as both of you graduated in Master's and PHD in your various fields!”
“Mum and the family are sooooo proud of you! What a 70th birthday gift from all of you! Love you all!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰,” she added.

The brothers, in addition to being lawyers, are also chartered surveyors.
