Ghanaian lawyer and politician Sarah Adwoa Safo has confirmed the passing of her father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, via social media.
The celebrated man of God, innovator, and philanthropist, popularly known as Kantanka, the African Star, passed away on September 11, 2025.

Adwoa Safo confirms passing of Apostle Kantanka
The industrialist Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was the leader of the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
In the statement, signed by his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo (former MP for Dome Kwabenya), the family described him as a gallant son whose legacy and persona were shaped by his life struggles, dreams, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Adwoa Safo talks about her dad's death
The Ghanaian lawyer and daughter has released a press statement online to address the rumours online.
According to a report by Ghanaweb, Sarah Adwoa Safo released the following press statement in response:
"With profound sorrow and deepest grief, the Safo Family and the Kristo Asafo Church announces the peaceful passing of Ghana’s beloved man of God, the greatest technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist and industrialist popularly referred to as “Kantanka, the African Star.
Our dearest Father passed away peacefully on Thursday 11th September, 2025. Romans 14:8 states; “For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord.
"Apostle Safo was a true genius, the beacon of hope for many, a father to the fatherless. Ghana has indeed lost a gallant son and a true legend.
"His unique persona was shaped by his life struggles, dreams, resilience, courage, determination and dedication to His calling and conviction.

Adwoa Safo celebrates her dad's birthday
In 2024, Ghanaian politician Sarah Adwoa Safo wrote an emotional message to celebrate her father's birthday on August 26.
She expressed her gratitude to him for being a mentor and a supportive father throughout her career, posting on Facebook:
"Dada, on this special day, it's a humbling and real honour to wish you a Happy Birthday. You have been my guide, my mentor, and my biggest supporter through every step of my life. Your strength, guidance, and wisdom have shaped who I am today, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Adwoa Safo jams to Medikal's new song
