A former beauty queen's name is circulating on Ghanaian social media for all the wrong reasons.

Ohemaa Sappama Angela, who flew the flag for the Bono East Region in the Ghana's Most Beautiful 2023 pageant, has been caught up in a theft allegation after she was reportedly found stealing fabric at a market.

Ghana's Most Beautiful contestant in theft controversy

According to a post shared by blogger Rande on X on August 16, 2026, the former beauty queen allegedly took an Abaya lace and a ladies dress without paying.

Ghana's Most Beautiful is one of the country's most celebrated beauty pageants, broadcast on TV3.

The competition is widely respected for showcasing the cultural richness and intelligence of Ghanaian women from across the country's regions, making the alleged incident all the more striking to those who followed the 2023 edition.

Rande's post captured the mood of many online, reading:

"From Ghana most beautiful competition to this. The contrast between the prestige associated with representing a region in a national pageant and being allegedly caught shoplifting basic market goods struck a nerve with a section of the Ghanaian public, who expressed sadness that someone of her profile would find herself in such a situation."

The circumstances surrounding the alleged theft, including what led to the incident, have not been officially confirmed by Ohemaa Sappama Angela or any representative speaking on her behalf.
