The family of Daddy Lumba visited former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the late highlife musician's one-week celebration event on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, led by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu and the former Deputy CEO of MASLOC, Madam Afia Akoto, were present at the NPP presidential candidate hopeful's office to officially inform him of the music icon's unfortunate demise.
Daddy Lumba's family also formally invited Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the one-week celebration event, which is set to be held at the University of Ghana, Legon Sports Stadium.
Bawumia donates GH₵100k to support Lumba's family
During the visit, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia recounted his previous pledge to support Daddy Lumba's family during his visit to the late musician's residence at East Legon in July.
During the meeting at his office, the former Vice President also presented GH₵100k cash to support the family of the late musician in preparation for the late musician's one-week celebration event on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
The money, placed inside a brown envelope, was presented to the head of Daddy Lumba's family, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, by the former Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also pledged to support the family in organising the funeral service of the late Daddy Lumba in the Ashanti Region after the official date is eventually announced.

Speaking to YEN.com.gh, entertainment analyst Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh shared his thoughts on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's donation to Daddy Lumba's family before his one-week celebration.
He said:
"It was a good initiative from the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Daddy Lumba is a legend, and any form of support to his grieving family is welcome. He also made some contributions to the NPP's past success with his campaign songs, so it can also be perceived as the party honouring him."

Daddy Lumba's family visits Akufo-Addo, others
Daddy Lumba's family's meeting with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia comes a day after they visited Nana Akufo-Addo's residence to officially confirm the musician's demise and invite him to the one-week celebration.
The family has also extended an invitation to the event to President John Dramani Mahama and former president John Agyekum Kufuor, who all commiserated with them after the musician's demise.
Daddy Lumba's demise and aftermath
Daddy Lumba passed away from a short illness at 60 on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after being admitted to the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, for treatment.

Following his demise, prominent personalities, including former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Kennedy Agyapong, Pat Thomas, Kojo Antwi, Serwaa Amihere, Ofori Amponsah, Chairman Wontumi, Becca, Kwabena Kwabena, and others, have all visited the late musician's residence to pay their respects to his family.
A candlelight vigil was held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra to honour the memory of the deceased musician.
Daddy Lumba's family later visited the Manhyia Palace to officially inform the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of the musician's demise on August 4, 2025.
The Asantehene also gave the Ekuona family the go-ahead to hold the late music icon's funeral service in the Ashanti Region. However, the official date has not yet been confirmed.
