UAE Publishes List of 46 Countries Eligible for 90-Day Visa on Arrival

The United Arab Emirates has released an official list of countries whose citizens are entitled to a 90-day visa on arrival, allowing eligible nationals to enter the country without applying for a visa in advance.

The publication of the list follows a report that drew attention to countries whose nationals either do not qualify for the scheme or are permitted to stay for fewer than 30 days under UAE entry rules.

Countries qualifying for UAE 90-day visa on arrival

The full list includes nations predominantly from Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and North America. European countries on the list include Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Vatican City.

From the Asia-Pacific region, nationals of Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea are also eligible. Canada and the United States round out the list from the Americas.

In total, the scheme covers 47 countries, granting their nationals the ability to remain in the UAE for up to 90 days from the date of arrival without prior visa arrangements.

What the list means for African travellers

Notably absent from the UAE's 90-day visa-on-arrival list are African nations. No African country appears among the 47 qualifying states, meaning nationals from across the continent do not benefit from the 90-day provision and must make alternative visa arrangements before travelling to the UAE.

The release of the official list provides clarity for travellers planning visits to the UAE, particularly those seeking to understand their entry options before departure.
