Among those listed are key tourism source markets, reflecting Thailand's intention to attract high-volume visitor flows from established and emerging travel corridors.

Travellers from eligible countries will be permitted to enter Thailand without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.

Officials noted that the arrangement is intended to reduce bureaucratic barriers and encourage short-term visits, particularly for leisure and business purposes.

Thailand's tourism ambitions

Thailand's move follows a broader regional trend of countries easing entry requirements to compete for international visitors.

The Thai government has positioned the visa-free scheme as a cornerstone of its post-pandemic recovery strategy, aiming to restore and surpass pre-2020 tourist arrival figures.

Authorities indicated that travellers making use of the visa-free arrangement must still comply with standard entry requirements, including holding a valid return ticket, proof of onward travel, and sufficient funds for the duration of their stay.

Travellers from countries not included on the 59-nation list will continue to follow existing visa application procedures when planning a visit to Thailand.
