Some political observers and leading members of the NDC believe Asiedu Nketia's tour is a ploy to water the grounds for a future presidential bid.

However, speaking to NDC faithful in the Akuapem North Constituency on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, Asiedu Nketia explained that during the 2024 election, responsibilities were divided among three campaign teams.

One team, he said, was led by President John Dramani Mahama, who focused on the presidential race, another by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the third by himself, concentrating on the rural communities.

Having won the election, the experienced politician said he felt the need to return to the people to thank them for voting for the NDC.

He said the recently concluded tour by President Mahama focused on the regional capitals. However, he is focused on folks in the remote towns and villages across the country.

"It's true that President Mahama has toured the regional capitals to thank Ghanaians, and so, when I announced mine, people said that, but the President has already thanked Ghanaians. I said that well, during the campaigns, we both went to different places. I told the people in the places I campaigned that if we win the elections, I would return to thank them," he said.

"So, if the president has thanked Ghanaians in the regional capitals, I must also go to the towns and villages I visited to campaign to thank the people. This is why I'm on the nationwide thank-you tour," he added.
