A devastating road accident in the East Gonja Municipality has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a pregnant woman and her young daughter.

The incident, involving a heavy-duty tipper truck, took place early on Thursday morning, May 7, 2026, at Kinkinlin, situated near Makango.

TAccording to a publication sighted on Citinewsroom, the tragedy unfolded at approximately 5:00 a.m. as a group of local women and girls were making their way to nearby fields to gather shea nuts.

What was meant to be a routine morning of agricultural work turned into a scene of horror when the vehicle suddenly lost control, leading to the tragic accident.

Accounts from witnesses at the scene indicate that a Sinotruk HOWO tipper truck, bearing the registration number GB-2359-20, abruptly swerved out of its lane.

The vehicle reportedly crossed over to the opposite side of the road, striking the pedestrians from behind before eventually flipping over.

The collision affected five people in total. While four victims succumbed to their injuries immediately at the site of the crash, one person managed to survive the initial impact.

The survivor was first taken to Salaga Government Hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since been transferred to Tamale Teaching Hospital for specialist emergency care.

The loss of life has had a profound impact on the Kinkinlin community. Aside from the expectant mother and her child, the deceased also include another woman and her daughter.

Relatives and neighbours have been left reeling as they process the scale of the loss following the early morning disaster.
