Black Stars players land in Accra ahead of crucial Mali showdown
The players, dressed in their official team tracksuits, walked silently with slumped shoulders, the frustration of a missed opportunity clearly visible on their faces.
From Thomas Partey, who remained unused on the bench, to Mohammed Kudus, whose clever pass created Jordan Ayew’s opener, every face told the story of a mission unfulfilled.
Watch the arrival:
That early strike in the 17th minute had given Ghana the perfect start, but in the final moments, Celestine Ecua stunned the visitors with a deflected equaliser to deny them all three points.
There will be little time to dwell on the setback.
According to Ghanafa.org, the team is set to resume training at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, September 5, as they prepare for a must-win clash against Mali, who overwhelmed Comoros in the other Group I fixture.

Despite the setback, Ghana still tops the group with 16 points, three ahead of Madagascar and four clear of Mali and Comoros.
The Central African Republic and Chad, with five points and one point respectively, are already out of contention.
The Black Stars’ journey toward a fifth World Cup hangs delicately in the balance, especially with Mali regaining confidence at just the wrong time. Yet, history offers a glimmer of hope.
H2H record between Ghana and Mali
Ghana has won three of their last five meetings with the Eagles, drawing once and losing just once, as noted by Flashscore.
Their last World Cup qualifier on Ghanaian soil in 2009 produced a thrilling 2-2 draw in Kumasi, with Anthony Annan rescuing the Black Stars late after Mali twice took the lead.
It will also be recalled that the Stars silenced Mali in Bamako back in March, clawing from a goal down to beat the Eagles 2-1.

With three matches left, including two at home, Ghana’s dream remains within reach.
Monday’s showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium could prove decisive, not only for qualification but also for restoring belief among fans.
