Dede Ayew Backed for 2026 World Cup as Prophet Telvin Gives Strong Reason
- Andre Ayew could play a decisive role in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign, according to Prophet Telvin Sowah
- The outspoken clergyman believes the country’s success at the tournament will hinge on a defining moment involving Ayew
- He had earlier predicted Ghana’s 7-2 aggregate defeat against Austria and Germany
Prophecy and football have once again collided around the Black Stars, this time with a strong call for the return of a familiar face ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Prophet Telvin Sowah Adjei has stirred fresh debate after insisting that Andre Ayew could be the difference between success and failure for Ghana at the tournament.
His comments come at a time when the national team is in transition, following the departure of Otto Addo and ongoing discussions about squad direction.

Prophet Telvin backs Ayew for Ghana return
Speaking in an interview on Accra FM, the founder of Prophetic Life Embassy made a passionate appeal for Ayew’s inclusion in the squad.
"Just bring my Dede Ayew," he began.
"If you [referring to the handlers of the Black Stars] don't bring my Dede Ayew they will be playing game."
The outspoken cleric went further, predicting that the experienced forward would play a decisive role on the global stage if selected.
"It will be left with one goal, just one goal: to win a game. They will come back [home] needing one goal because of one player. He will carry one goal, which, if he doesn't go, that one goal will be the same reason why we will come home."
He also warned that ignoring this advice could have consequences, suggesting Ghana risk an early exit if Ayew is left out.
Understanding Prophet Telvin's call for Ayew
Ayew has been out of the national team picture since featuring briefly in a friendly against Uganda in 2024.
His last major tournament appearance came at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana exited at the group stage after surrendering a two-goal lead against Mozambique.
Since then, he has struggled to reclaim his place, with Addo previously indicating a shift towards other attacking options.
At club level, however, the 36-year-old has rebuilt momentum. After a long spell without a team, he joined NAC Breda in the Eredivisie and has played a key role in their fight against relegation, scoring once in 11 appearances, per Transfermarkt.
While his numbers may not match the current attacking options available to Ghana, his experience remains a strong argument in his favour.
Ayew is the most capped player in Black Stars history and is on the brink of making history again.
If selected, he could become the first Ghanaian to feature at four World Cups and potentially the oldest player from the country to appear at the tournament.
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
The Black Stars open their campaign on June 17 against Panama before facing England and Croatia in what promises to be a defining test of both squad depth and experience.
