Valverde hospitalised after fight with Tchouameni

According to Marca, the tension started after a foul during a training drill at Valdebebas, leading to a heated exchange between the two midfielders.

The disagreement is then said to have escalated after the session, with an emergency meeting reportedly held in an attempt to calm the situation.

Spanish television programme El Chiringuito reported that interim manager Álvaro Arbeloa accompanied Valverde to hospital, where the midfielder allegedly required stitches.

Reports further suggested that a a second fight broke out in training on Thursday between the two. Before the training session on Thursday, Valverde reportedly refused to shake Tchouameni’s hand, which kicked off the session in hostile fashion.

Real Madrid are currently trying to control a series of internal problems that have disrupted the closing stages of their season.

Los Blancos are going through a turbulent period and are on course to finish a second consecutive campaign without a trophy.

Reports have also suggested that at least six players are no longer speaking to Arbeloa.

Further claims recently alleged that former Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger slapped Álvaro Carreras during another dressing-room incident.

However, the German international is believed to have apologised afterwards and resolved the matter.

In addition, to the Rudiger-Carreras incident, and the previous Tchouameni-Valverde altercation, Kylian Mbappe reportedly had a heated moment with a member of the coaching staff recently too.

Mbappé was also said to be among the players who supported former manager Xabi Alonso, who was dismissed in January amid claims that the squad had become divided.

Responding to the criticism, representatives of the French forward released a statement online saying:

“Part of the criticisms are based on an overinterpretation of elements related to a recovery period strictly supervised by the club.
“This is not corresponding to the reality of the commitment and the work that Kylian does daily for the good of the team.”
