Erling Haaland has chopped off his trademark long hair in favour of a military-style buzzcut, prompting a hilarious reaction from close friend Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Before unveiling the new look to the former Sweden striker, Haaland acknowledged the weight of what he was about to do.
"Zlatan told me never cut your hair, because your strength is in your hair. I'm a bit nervous. I want a buzz cut, like in the military," the Manchester City striker admitted ahead of their video call.

Ibrahimovic's blunt reaction to Haaland's new look
Ibrahimovic's response was about as subtle as one would expect from the outspoken Swede. Stunned by what he saw, he fired back at his friend without hesitation. He said, as quoted by BBC Sport:
"What did you do? You lost a bet or what? Block me and erase my number," Ibrahimovic said, adding that even his wife thought Haaland had lost the plot.
The reaction was classic Ibrahimovic, brutally honest and entirely unapologetic, making for one of the more entertaining footballer exchanges of the summer.

Guardiola shares different view to Ibrahimović
Not everyone was horrified. Former Man City boss Pep Guardiola, who shared his own video call with the Norwegian, was far more enthusiastic about the transformation.
"No way. You're lucky you have hair. I would love to have it. I love it," Guardiola told Haaland.
When Haaland pressed him further on whether he genuinely liked the cut, Guardiola said yes but pointed out that if the striker had second thoughts, growing his hair back was always an option.

The timing of Haaland's makeover is worth noting. City were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield, and the former Borussia Dortmund striker may have been looking for a fresh start heading into the new campaign.
Under new manager Enzo Maresca, Haaland is expected to lead the line for City this season.
He claimed the Premier League's Golden Boot last term with 27 goals, though that tally fell short of the remarkable 36 he plundered in his debut season at the club.
His first opportunity to get off the mark in the league comes when City face Bournemouth on Sunday, August 23.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Sulley Muntari once explained why Zlatan Ibrahimovic never won the Ballon d’Or despite his successful career.
The former Ghana international said Ibrahimovic had one trait that did not appeal to the award organisers.
