My wife did nothing wrong – Kennedy Agyapong speaks on a GHc100.2 streetlight contract

- The MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has refuted claims that his wife secured a GHc100.2 million contract through sole sourcing

- According to him, the contract to fix streetlights was obtained through restrictive tendering

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has claimed that his wife did nothing wrong with respect to a GHc100.2 million contract awarded to her company.

According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, the lawmaker stated that the process through which Stella Wilson Agyapong’s Imperial World Ventures secured the contract was restrictive tendering and not sole sourcing.

YEN.com.gh understands that information with respect to the contract was placed on the website of the Ministry of Energy. It allegedly labeled the contract as one to be bid for through sole sourcing.

Speaking on Adom TV’s ‘Badwam, Kennedy Agyapong stated that the ministry sent him a letter of apology with respect to the mishap.

“The website guys are diabolic. They want to sabotage our work. They have been taken off that contract. Why do you say that it is sole sourcing when it is not. The contract to my wife is restricted tendering”, he fumed.

He went on to say that there was nothing wrong with the award of the contract as his had proven herself competent to execute it.

He revealed that unlike some others, she has so far delivered about 50% of the contract without any support from the government.

On the same show, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, former Deputy Communication Minister, stated that the Ministry of Energy should have opened up the contract for bidding. To him, it were another person, the MP would have claimed it is stealing.
