Ghanaian Afro-Dancehall musician Stonebwoy has been signed by Universal Music Group, an international record label.
The world leader in music-based entertainment launched the record label deal with Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla, on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
His deal was announced during the launch of Universal Music Group’s new Pan-African division office in Nigeria.
This is contained in a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Pulse.com.gh.
Stonebwoy, who is already signed to Zylofon Music record label, wasn’t the only Ghanaian artiste who agreed on a deal with UMG.
Other artistes signed to the label include Nigerian artistes WurlD, Odunsi (the Engine), Tay Iwar, Mr Eazi and co-signed Tekno in conjunction with Island Records UK, and co-signed Tanzanian singer and songwriter Vanessa Mdee in conjunction with AfroForce1 Records.
UMG’s new division in Lagos will support artistes from Nigeria, Ghana, and the Gambia throughout the continent and beyond, utilizing Universal Music Group’s global networks for wider discovery, marketing, promotion and distribution.
This new strategic division will operate from a new office in Lagos, under the leadership of Nigerian music executive Ezegozie Eze Jr., who has been named General Manager of Universal Music Nigeria.
However, YEN.com.gh cannot tell if Stonebwoy will leave Zylofon Music or if he intended to keep both as his record labels.
Stonebwoy is currently in Europe for his Epistle of Mama (EOM) tour.
He is currently one of Ghana’s fine musicians.
He was in the news recently for revealing that he would collaborate with Shatta Wale on a song soon.
