Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing has budgeted an amount 500,000 dollars or about GHC 2.5 million for the purchase, maintenance and fuelling of generators at its headquarters and various agencies across Nigeria.

According to Punchng.com, an analysis of the 2019 budget proposal of the Nigerian government that was recently mitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly contained the specifics.

It showed that the ministry and its agencies had proposed to spend N167.96m, the equivalent of which has been captured in US dollars.

This amount was to be disbursed in 2019 on the purchase, maintenance and fuelling of generators/plants.

The report touched on the fact that Nigeria currently generates and distributes an average of 4,000 megawatts of electricity.

But the sector is still suffering from a serious liquidity crisis despite being privatised since November 1, 2013.

No sooner had the story made airwaves than the jokes started.

Some referred to the government of Mr Bihari as legendary failure.
