The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor has replied the Inspector General of Police’s order for all political parties to disband their vigilante groups.
According to the him, their party has already began works on creating new groups to protect their votes in 2020 as they no longer trust the police service.
Speaking on Neat FM’s Evening Political Show, 'Torchlight', he said solid preparations were underway for more vigilante groups to be birthed in the NDC.
“We [NDC] have it in mind to form vigilante groups ahead of 2020. We can’t rely on the police for our safety,” he said.
This comes after the the Eastern regional organizer of the NDC Hackman Kabore also said the party will not disband its vigilante groups unless its opponents do so.
Kabore, who founded the vigilante group “Eastern Mambas” said the largest opposition must see convincing commitment on the part of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to disband theirs.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Eastern regional organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hackman Kabore, has said the party will not disband its vigilante groups until other parties do so.
Starrfm.com.gh reports that Kabore, who founded the vigilante group “Eastern Mambas,” said the NDC must see convincing commitment on the part of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to disband theirs.
According to him, the party has information to the effect that the NPP will pretend to have disbanded its vigilante groups, but will secretly rebrand them as national security operatives to unleash mayhem in 2020 as part of an agenda to hold on to power.
