Mahama pays courtesy call on NDC founder J.J Rawlings

Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC), John Dramani Mahama on Monday, February 25, 2019, visited the party’s founder, Jerry John Rawlings in Accra.

The former president’s courtesy call on Mr. Rawlings was first of all to officially introduce himself as the party’s 2020 flagbearer.

The duo also had discussions on the growth and progress of the NDC in the build up to the 2020 elections.

Rawlings had earlier congratulated Mahama for emerging winner in the NDC’s presidential primaries organised over the weekend.

In his congratulatory message, Mr. Rawlings urged Mahama and the leadership of the party to “work together to re-embrace the NDC’s core principles in a bid to carve a positive message and image for the party.”

My congratulations to former President J. D. Mahama on his election as the presidential candidate of the NDC. My congratulations also go to all the other candidates for the dignified manner they conducted themselves throughout the process and for accepting the results in a mature and good-natured manner,” said Mr. Rawlings in a statement.

Mahama recorded a landslide victory in the just ended National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries.

At the end of the presidential primaries, Mahama polled a whopping 213,487 votes representing 95.23% of the total votes cast to beat the six other contestants to lead the largest opposition party in the 2020 general elections.
