Asantehene’s spiritual head calls for punishment for Antoa cursers

The spiritual head (Nsumankwahene) of the Asantehene, Baffuor Asabre Kogyawoasu Ababio, has condemned reports of curses directed at some parents as well as officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).

This comes after some people believed to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) invoked curses with ‘Antoa Nyamaa’, a popular deity in the Ashanti region.

YEN.com.gh understands that some people who covered their faces with leaves and clothes took the action on Wednesday, June 19, 2019.

Dailyguidenetwork.com reports that those who cursed with the god did so with bottles of schnapps and crates of eggs.

They openly asked the dreaded river deity to immediately deal ruthlessly with anybody who would attempt to register minors in the electoral exercise.

Ababio explained that the Manhyia Palace has banned invocation of curses with river gods in the region.

Therefore, he went on, it was strange that those involved in the act chose to do what they did.

The Nsumankwahene said the people who invoked the curses had openly flouted an order of the Manhyia Palace, for which reason they would be punished in a traditional way, if they were found.
