NPP MP reveals he warned party against PDS deal
- Former MP for Obuasi East, Edward Enin, has revealed that the government ignored his warnings not to sign an agreement with PDS
- He revealed that the agreement was suspended after the demand guarantees presented by PDS was probed
- He however blamed MiDA for not doing due diligence
The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Obuasi East, Edward Enin, has revealed that the government ignored his warnings not to sign the concession agreement with Power Distribution Services (PDS).
Enin claimed his warnings were ignored and they “squeezed the necks of someone just to favour a Ghanaian."
Speaking in an interview with Adom FM, Enin, who was also a former vice chairman of the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, revealed that the agreement was suspended after the demand guarantees presented by PDS was probed.

“PDS, from beginning was not clean technically, financially but my people ignored my warnings. Now we have to defend this shameful thing.
PDS did not have money and even went to BXC [a company disqualified during the bid] for financial support,” he alleged.
The former Obuasi East MP blamed the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) for not doing due diligence before awarding the contract to PDS.
“These guys at MiDA must be questioned for this embarrassment. They should sit up,” he fumed.

However, officials of embattled Power Distribution Services (PDS) have responded to the government of Ghana’s decision to suspend its operations in the country.
According to the management of PDS, it acted in good faith and in the best interest of the country.
The company further noted in its statement that it “will go through the process by complying with the terms of the Transaction Agreement executed between it and ECG on one hard and GoG through MoF on the other hand.”
