The incident occurred on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, when Vainess Kanyama decided to confront Christin Ntundwe, who lived in the same township and was allegedly involved with her husband.
Uncle describes finding Vainess unconscious
Kanyama's uncle, Derrick Bwalya, confirmed the tragic events in an interview, recalling how he received a distressing phone call that day informing him his niece had been found lying unconscious near a local market.
He rushed to the scene to find a crowd gathered around her. "I found my niece bleeding from the nose and she was unresponsive and when I attempted to take her to the hospital, I was told that she had already died," he said.
One of Kanyama's daughters, who had accompanied her mother that day, witnessed her collapse and ran home to alert other family members.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police. A post-mortem examination, conducted before the family laid Kanyama to rest on Friday, confirmed she died as a result of blood clots on both sides of the brain.
Family calls for justice as suspect remains fugitive
Bwalya said the family is demanding justice and that no one had the right to take his niece's life. He also called on Kanyama's husband to cooperate fully with authorities to help locate the suspect, who has since fled and remains at large.
Kanyama is survived by three children, the youngest of whom is just five years old.
