Simon Agbeko: Police officer desilt gutters and builds road slab with own money after helping disabled

Recent activities of some officers of the Ghana Police Service have helped to largely restore its public image with Ghanaians including another benevolent gesture of Lance Corporal Simon Agbeko Ekpeagba.

The kind-hearted police officer, who is stationed at the Accra Regional Command has earned a special spot in the hearts of many Ghanaians stemming from a good deed he undertook as part of a community service.

Lance Corporal Simon, through his own initiative undertook a clean-up exercise to desilt choked drains and constructed a concrete slab with his own money to cover the gutter at Tudu in Accra Central to prevent any mishap from happening to road users.

The police officer willfully descended into every gutter to remove debris to ensure the free flow of water.

After the drainage got damaged and was not repaired for nearly six months, it became necessary that someone did the needful to prevent any unfortunate situation from occurring and the police officer used his money to start and finish the construction to save lives.

Lance Corporal Simon told ghanaweb "the purpose is to improve flow, once he removed these solid wastes which normally obstruct flow" adding that "flooding will be reduced to the barest minimum.''

He urged the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), the Ministry of Roads and Transport and the appropriate authorities to take proactive measured to save traders, pedestrians from an avoidable tragedy in the future.

He also called on Zoomlion to clean the debris on the road after removing the waste in the gutter.

Lance Corporal Simon also made headlines for his kind gestures which include fixing a damaged traffic light at Odorkor in Accra and the donation of wheelchairs, canes and crutches to physically challenged persons on the streets of Accra.

He has also made donations to mosques and deprived homes in Accra.

Lance Corporal Simon Agbeko believes that everyone can contribute their part towards transforming the lives of others, especially, underserved communities and deprived individuals.

Meanwhile, following a story about Queen Maya, the beautiful Ghanaian female police officer who won the internet after impressive photos of her surfaced online, some Ghanaians have asked about the man in her life.

Photos of Corporal Rita Awuku took over the internet after the beautiful Ghanaian police officer shared the images on her Instagram page.

Following the story, some people want to know who Queen Maya hangs out with. Social media user, Tracy Sarkodie, wanted to know when she said: ''Beautiful lady'' and quizzed ''who is she dating? Coz she's definitely not single.''
