Kumasi to host 63rd Independence day parade

- The Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, would be hosting the 2020 Independence Day celebration

- It would be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 6, 2020

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, would be hosting the 2020 Independence Day celebration.

The 63rd anniversary since Ghana attained independence would be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 6, 2020.

This year's independence day celebration would be the second time the event would be held outside Accra after it was held in the Northern Region in 2019.

The parade will involve personnel from the security agencies, schoolchildren and other notable organizations.

According to a report by CitiNewsroom, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Keith Christopher Rowley would be the special guest of honor for the function which would be held under the theme, ‘Consolidating Our Gains’.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and other dignitaries would also be expected to grace the occasion.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 63rd Independence anniversary celebration, Laud Commey, outlined the itinerary and also officially unveiled the logo for this year’s celebration.

He also touched on President Akufo-Addo's pledge to rotate the national celebration through the various regions.

In other news, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service says it has arrested six persons over the missing excavators and other equipment seized by the Operation Vanguard team.

One of the six arrested is the Central Regional Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Horace Ekow Ewusi.

He and his accomplices were arrested on Monday, February 3, 2020, at Abelemkpe in Accra.
