Bryan Acheampong’s new appointment attempt to rig elections for Akufo-Addo – Asiedu Nketia

The NDC's Johnson Asiedu Nketia has expressed worry in the reassignment of Bryan Acheampong to the Interior Ministry.

According to the NDC General Secretary, the transfer of former national security minister to the Interior Ministry is only a move by President Akufo-Addo to rig the December 7 polls.

Addressing the media outside Parliament on Thursday, February 13, the outspoken Asiedu Nketia noted that President Akufo-Addo is not ready for a free and fair elections.

I believe that it is a cork in the whole orchestration to rig the elections because this is somebody who deployed task force to create mayhem at a by-election ..."

He added that President Akufo-Addo has rejected the Emile Short Commission’s report and recommendation on the Ayawaso West Wuguon violence and decided to transfer Mr Acheampong to the Interior Ministry to give him the authority to deploy task to rig the 2020 elections.

Akufo-Addo has now legitimized of Bryan Acheampong and give him the legitimate authority now to deploy the task force they have trained and embedded in the police service to now go and be deployed for elections security and you know what it means,” he quizzed.

Nana Akufo-Addo has reassigned two ministers according to a statement from the presidency signed by Eugene Arhin.

Reasons for their reassignment were not provided.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has threatened to declare its won results in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary results if the Electoral Commission does not rescind its decision to compile a new voters' register.

Addressing the media in Accra, the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu quizzed why the EC wants to change a register that was used to elect President Akufo-Addo.
