- A Ghanaian sneakerhead has indicated that most celebs in Ghana wear knock-off sneakers
- He continued that it takes a very good eye to notice a knock-off costume from an original one
A Ghanaian sneakerhead who is based in UK has come out with a rather bold statement about the costume of many Ghanaian celebrities who claim to the living the best life and wearing the best of everything money can buy.
A sneakerhead is a person who collects, trades, or admires sneakers as a hobby. A sneakerhead may also be highly experienced in distinguishing between real and replica sneakers.
According to the sneakerhead known by the name Emmanuel Sandyman but is known by social media handle Fire_stick, when it comes to sneakers, many Ghanaians, especially our favorite celebs, do not wear original stuff.
In explaining further, Fire_stick indicated that this was the case because it was very difficult, that is if one does not have experience, to tell a fake costume from an original one.
The sneaker enthusiast claimed there was no authentic boutique in Ghana per the nationwide checks he had taken time to do.
He said many of the sneakers shops and boutiques in the country claiming to be selling original stuff were rather selling the fake ones but due to the close similarities and disparities in prices, the knock-offs always get sold.
The London-based sneaker collector also revealed that anyone who claimed to be into shopping of original stuff was telling lies.
He interestingly added that one cannot just walk into a shop to buy original sneakers. He said you had to enter a raffle first, then if you are picked, you then can go to the outlet to buy the sneakers.
Adding to this process, Sandyman said when one misses out on the raffle, he buys from middlemen who can prove that they won the raffle to be able to purchase the sneakers but the catch here is that one would have to pay two or three times more than the original cost.

The enthusiast said he has bought from retailers like SNEAKRS, SNS, footlocker, OFFSPRING, HANON, FLATSPOT and SOLEBOX.
Fire Stick went on to boldly claim that if he had to stick his neck out for a celeb who he would consider to wear original sneakers, it would be award-winning artiste Kofi Kinaata.
Aside being so much into sneakers, Emmanuel Sandyman is a medalist and a member of Ghana's boxing team, the Black Bombers.
