The Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City has laid off 85% of its employees following the novel coronavirus that has plagued the whole world.
The 85% makes a number of 340 employees out of the 400 total number of workers at the 5-star hotel.
The hotel has also closed down its four floors of its multi-storey structure to cut down operational costs.
The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta reportedly made this revelation on the floor of Parliament on the night of Friday, April 3, 2020.
He decried the rather sad development describing it as “difficult moments”.
It is believed that those workers would be called back when the pandemic is over.
Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ghana stands at 205 as of Saturday, April 4, 2020.
The latest case was recorded in the Upper West Region, and it was established that the patient had had no travel history.
Earlier, YEN.com.gh published that 31 of the patients had recovered and they have been discharged to continue treatment at home.
These will be under strict monitoring after which they will be freed after a compulsory 14-day monitoring.
Also, the partial lockdown declared on some parts of the Greater Accra, Ashanti Regions and Kasoa is still in force.
President Akufo-Addo gave that directive as a measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
