We will make SHS a dream come true for every Ghanaian child - Akufo-Addo

- Akufo-Addo has stated that he would do everything to ensure that the Free Senior High School programme becomes real for every Ghanaian child

- He said he would ensure that during his time in government, more senior high schools would be built across the country

- Akufo-Addo however, hinted that to strengthen the human resource needed for the socio-economic development, there was the need for improved educational facilities across the country

President Akufo-Addo has stated that he would do everything to ensure that the Free Senior High School programme is enjoyed by every Ghanaian child.

According to him, he would ensure that during his time in government, more senior high schools would be built across the country to improve access to education which has now become free.

In a meeting with a delegation from the Kologo Traditional Area at the Jubilee House, Akufo-Addo revealed that the educational policy put in place has led an impressive increase in enrolment.

“It is the ambition that we will be able to plant senior secondary schools all across the country so that access to senior high school will become real for every child”, he said.

Akufo-Addo however, hinted that to strengthen the human resource needed for the socio-economic development, there was the need for improved educational facilities across the country.

He also assured the delegation, which had requested an SHS in their community that soon, a school would be sited in Kologo just like in other communities.

In other news, President Akufo-Addo has presented presidential charters to the Pentecost University College, Accra, and All Nations University College, Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The short ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Thursday, May 28, 2020.

The presidential charters to the two universities mean, the tertiary institutions “are going to transition into autonomous Universities, with the capacity, now, to award their own degrees and diplomas.”
