Former President John Dramani Mahama has taken to social media to flaunt his mother and father in new photos.
Monday, June 1, 2020, happened to be Global Day of Parents, a day set aside by the United Nations (UN) to honour parents and their commitment to children worldwide.
In observance of the day which is celebrated annually, former President Mahama decided to post photos of his own parents who are both of blessed memory.
The first of the photos shared by the former president was that of his mother Hajia Abiba Nnaba who passed away in 2016.
The photo of Hajia Nnaba has her dressed in kaba and slit made from a yellow and black-coloured garment.
Sharing his mother's photo, Mahama praised her for birthing and nurturing him. He also revealed her to be the source of his patience, tolerance, kindness, and humility.
"In celebration of the Global Day of Parents, I want to honour the memory of the woman who made me who I am. You gave birth to me & nurtured me. I draw my patience, tolerance, kindness and humility from this great woman. May your kind soul continue to Rest In Peace.," Mahama's caption read.
On his father, Emmanuel Adama Mahama, the former president described him as the man who has made him who he is.
According to him, his education, communication skills, human relations, and political instincts are all drawn from his father.
"It’s a Global Day of Parents. I honour the memory of the man who has made me who I am. I draw my education, communication skills, human relations and political instincts from this great man. May your gentle soul continue to rest in peace," he wrote.
Mahama's father was a teacher and successful politician who was appointed by Kwame Nkrumah as the first-ever minister for Northern region.
He was also the first Member of Parliament for West Gonja and served as a presidential adviser to Dr Hilla Limann in the Third Republic.
Meanwhile, the former was recently captured flaunting his powerful motorbike in a stunning photo that trended online.
