- Floyd Mayweather has revealed that he has a better record than Muhammadu Ali
- The undefeated fighter also insisted that he is the greatest of all time
- Mayweather retired with a 50-0 record before calling it quits in 2020
Floyd Mayweather has bragged about being the best boxer in history after aiming slight dig at Muhammad Ali.
The 43-year-old has an undefeated record of 50 career win in all of his 50 fights before hanging his gloves in 2017.
Mayweather was asked by ESPN how he compares to Ali about being regarded as the best fighter the sports have produced he said.
"Ali, only one weight class and really lost to Ken Norton three times. What he did is he stood for a cause in an era when African-Americans didn't stand up for their people.
"What are we judging fighters on? Because if we're judging fighters on standing for a cause, then it's Ali hands down. But if we're talking about taking the least punishment and breaking records, it's Floyd Mayweather.
"Muhammad Ali paved the way for me to be where I'm at today, he's a legend. But when we talk about record breaking, we've got to talk about Ali losing his world title to a fighter with only seven fights.
"I have to take my hat off to Ali, but I didn't give this sport 40 years to say that there's another fighter better than me. What I'm here to teach fighters is this: the name of the game is to hit and not get hit. It's not about taking punishment.
"And I love Ali, but sitting on the ropes, taking punishment as far as doing a rope-a-dope - that's not cool."
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that Floyd Mayweather has finally put to bed about returning into the square circle as he announced he would be involved in exhibition fights.
The 43-year-old retired from boxing in 2017 after defeating Conor McGregor then returned to face Japanese kick-boxer Tenshin Nasukawa a year later in an exhibition bout.
Now the Money Man took to his social media handle to reveal that he is planning a series of exhibitions in the overseas.
Mayweather earned huge amounts in his comeback fights with McGregor and Nasukawa, so his potential fights coming up would fetch him more money into his bank account.
The Pretty Boy has also been linked with a fight with UFC's lightweight champion Khabib Nurmangomendov but it did not materialize.
A rematch with old foe Manny Pacquiao was also on the cards but the 43-year-old and the Phillipino could not reach an agreement either way.
Mayweather has now taken to training upcoming boxers as he released a video clip of putting one of his sons through the pads.
