Dr. Korie A. Grayson, has become an example of black excellence after she earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Cornell University in the United States.

Dr. Grayson officially became a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, College of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Lola Eniola-Adefeso.

Adding to her accomplishments, she was also inducted into the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society.

The purpose of the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society is to recognise outstanding scholarly achievement and promote diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate.

In a recent video post on her social media handle in May 2020, Dr. Grayson indicated that she was ''supposed to walk across the stage and graduate with her PhD programme in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University.''

However, due to the current prevailing COVID-19 pandemic she was''prevented...but [she's] gonna wear this well-earned robe and cap no matter what!''

The coronavirus pandemic also prevented the annual conference which was to be hosted at Yale University, where she would have been formally inducted into the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society.

Just like Dr Grayson, COVID-19 has robbed many students of walking across the graduation stage in their gowns to proudly celebrate their achievements.

In spite of this, she said she is still ''honoured to be amongst the class and this particular group of peers from Cornell University.''

Currently, she is a visiting scholar at Vanderbilt University in Dr. Michael R. King's lab, where her research focuses on studying the landscape of white blood cells that infiltrate primary prostate tumors in vivo.

Dr. Grayson is also elucidating a sensitization mechanism of current chemotherapy drugs used to treat metastatic prostate cancer to a nanoscale therapeutic that selectively kills cancer cells in 2D and 3D prostate cancer cell culture environments.
