A 60-year-old Ghanaian farmer with limited means by the name of Abena Donkor lives with and takes care of all her three children who have lost their legs due to leprosy.

In a short documentary by Adom TV on the life of the single mother, it is indicated that the children are Rawlings Ashan (25), Frank Ashan (23), and Doris Ashan (17).

The only girl, little Doris, had both legs amputated while her two brothers have one leg each amputated. With no wheelchair to assist in their movement, taking care of them has been a great chore for their mother.

According to the poor mother, leprosy has been with the children from infancy and has caused a lot of damage to the family, including the death of their father, Mr Ashan.

Abena Donkor, who lives at Breman Esumanjura in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District of the Central Region, mentions that she had to sell her clothes and other personal belongings to make sure there is food on the table.

For about 10 years, the loving mother has always carried her children on her back whenever the need for them to move arises and that continues to be her daily commitment.
