- The Asantehene advised the former president to come clean is his bid for a second term

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, introduced his running mate to the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Mahama formally introduced his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, to the Asantehene.

Speaking after the introduction, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, wished the duo well and charge the former president to do a self-introspection on why he lost the 2016 election as the incumbent and also communicate to Ghanaians what new he has for the country.

He further prayed the political parties and their followers would campaign on issues and not insults.

The Asantehene urged the two leading contenders to focus on the campaign of issues to Ghanaians and leave the people to be the best judges.

In other news, some widows in the Upper East Region of Ghana have been weeping beyond control over their locked up funds with Gold Coast Securities.

The women are blaming President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for a decision that has caused their investments to be locked away from 2018 to date.

The angry depositors, dominated by pensioners wearing red headbands with scarlet ribbons tied to their wrists, voiced their tortures at a news conference held at Navrongo, capital of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality.

A retired educationist, Dominic Atatoga, set the tone for the all-red gathering as he told the audience in his welcome address that the news conference had to be convened after it became clear that the “powers that be were dodging us and silence was not going to help us.”

YEN.com.gh also reported that the governor of the central bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, has reiterated the claims by the Receiver of the collapsed banks that he has settled about 95% of the depositors.

Dr. Addison noted that monies have been paid to savings and loan companies, microfinance institutions, and finance houses.
