President Akufo-Addo’s directive to the Scholarship Secretariat to offer a student of Adeiso Senior High School in the Eastern Region a full scholarship was an indictment on the administration, Ghana’s former deputy ambassador to China has said.

According to Horace Ankrah, had the administration managed the country’s scholarship system efficiently in the past four years, the president would not have been issuing directives to the secretariat before it offers scholarships to deserving students.

Thomas Amoaning, a graduate of Adeiso Senior High School scored 8As in the 2020 West Africa Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

“If the system is working, the President would not have noticed this child but the system would have taken care of him,” Ankrah told Onua FM, 3 News reported.
“…the president should not have ordered for him to be given a scholarship but the system is not working that is why it took the social media for him [student] to be noticed,” he added.
