Ekua Ataa: Widow breaks down in tears as NGO gifts her two-bedroom house

A grandmother in her 50s, Ekua Ataa, was left in tears of joy as she received keys to a two-bedroom house from the local charity Crime Check Foundation.

Crime Check Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, put smiles on the face of the widow by donating the two-bedroom house to her.

The new house which is located in Kasoa Ofaakor in the Central Region is Ataa's first concrete home after years of living in a kiosk.

The deprived widow had been living in the wooden kiosk in Sukura, a Zongo community in Accra with her twin grandchildren after her daughter died during delivery.

The executive director of Crime Check Foundation, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng in a post on Facebook disclosed that the charity partnered with a real estate company to surprise Ataa with the new house.

''With support from Agyare Real Estate, we have surprised our dear sister [Ekua Ataa] who had given up in life. We made her believe someone wanted to give her a quarter plot. She followed us with tears of joy to the location of the land only to find a two-bedroom house in her name.''

In other news, a visually impaired teenager, Jennifer Dede who lost her vision at age seven has given a goosebumps-raising narration about how she lost her eyesight.

Dede who was abandoned by her father has had to endure and live with stigma even from the people she calls family.

Recalling how the light in her eyes began dimming at age six, Dede told Joy News in an interview that she became blind after she suffered from a medical eye condition called Glaucoma.
