A 35-year-old woman who once felt ugly and ashamed of her body is now a stunning plus-size model after losing over 70 kilos through surgery.

Rochelle Monique, from Washington DC, struggled with body weight and low-self-esteem and poor eating habit, putting her dream of becoming a model and fashion star in serious jeopardy.

“I used to be a people’s person. But due to my monstrous body, I suffered low self-esteem and lacked confidence,” says Monique.

According to the black beauty, her trouble with weight started when she suffered an injury on her knees and stopped exercising, during which she gained weight, hitting 153 kilos.

“With a knee injury, I couldn’t work out. I just let go of myself. I was very unhappy with how things were going,” says Monique.

Monique eventually decided to go for surgery to get herself back in shape. She went through a vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) to get rid of a larger portion of her stomach and reduced it to the size of a banana.

Following the life-changing surgery, Monique has lost close to 70 kilos. And now, she is ready to conquer the world.
