Hilda Baci to use 250 bags of rice in record attempt

Following her record-breaking achievement in 2023, where she set the world record for the longest cooking marathon, Hilda Baci and her team have got the world excited as she focused on filling a specially designed pot with a vast capacity of 22,619 litres.

She disclosed that her goal was to fill the pot to at least 75 to 80 per cent, utilising her calculated estimate of approximately 5,278 kilograms of raw basmati rice, which would typically equate to around 264 bags. However, in a strategic decision, Baci has opted to work with 250 bags.

In her video, she confidently stated, “I am making the executive decision to do 250 bags,” highlighting her commitment to the challenge while also making adjustments to ensure success.

Alongside the rice, Hilda outlined the substantial quantities of condiments that will be incorporated into the dish, emphasising her reliance on tomato paste.

For every kilogram of rice, she requires between 0.20 and 0.35 kilograms of tomato paste, but she explained that she will settle on using 0.30 kilograms.

This calculation led to a remarkable total of 1,583 kilograms of Gino tomato paste for the massive pot of jollof rice.

Hilda Baci further shared that the inspiration for this record attempt stemmed from a vision she experienced nearly two years ago.

“Almost two years ago, I had the dream to cook the largest pot of jollof rice ever made. And now, with @ginonaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?” she expressed passionately.
