Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s daughter, Dr Caryn Agyemang Prempeh, popularly known as Ohemaa, grabbed the spotlight as she appeared at the Asantehemaa’s funeral.

The Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, died at 98 years of age on August 7, 2025.
She was the 14th Asante queen mother and the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and held the position for eight years before her death.
Her burial has been scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Royal Mausoleum in Breman.
Ahead of her burial, Asante royals and other dignitaries have descended on Manhyia Palace for her final funeral rites.

Otumfuo’s daughter steals show at Asantehemaa’s funeral
The daughter of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Dr Caryn Agyemang Prempeh, joined other royals at the Manhyia Palace to mourn the Asantehemaa’s passing.
In a video seen by YEN.com.gh on the TikTok page of Vibez Central, Ohemaa could be seen in black and red mourning clothes and drenched in grief.
Despite her sadness, she was seen attempting to remain composed in line with her royal responsibilities.
The video of Caryn Prempeh mourning the Asantehamma has evoked sadness on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing their support for her.

Otumfuor institutes curfew for Asantehemaa's burial
Caryn Prempeh's appearance at Manhyia Palace marked the start of Asanthemaa's week-long funeral, which would culminate in her burial on September 18.
Consequently, the Asantehene, via his linguist Baffour Kantankyakyi, has ordered all residents to remain indoors on the night.

Kumasi and other parts of the Asante Kingdom are also supposed to fall silent in accordance with Asante customs and traditions.
“Asanteman will go completely silent. No shops will be opened. There will be no travel or human movement. The remains of our revered Asantehemaa will be conveyed to Bantama during the night. It is important that no one is met on the way, as doing so will be at the person's own peril. Late at night, the remains will be moved in solemn procession to the final resting place in Breman.” Kantankyakyi said.

Kwaku Bonsam storms Asantehemaa's funeral on horseback
Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that Kwaku Bonsam had stormed the Asantehemaa's funeral on horseback to perform a ritual dance.
The popular Ghanaian spiritual leader joined other mourners at the Manhyia Palace for Nana Konadu Yiadom III's final rites on September 15.
Kwaku Bonsam grabbed online attention as he arrived on the back of a brown horse wearing a special batakari with several live birds attached.
