ECG Lists Areas in Central and Volta Regions to Experience 3-Day Power Outages From August 25 to 27

Residents and businesses across parts of Ghana's Central and Volta Regions should brace for planned electricity cuts this week, following an announcement by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The power distributor confirmed that the outages are tied to scheduled maintenance exercises intended to strengthen and improve service delivery across its network.

According to a public notice issued by the ECG, the power cuts will run on Tuesday, August 25, Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, 2026, with each day's interruption lasting from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Central Region communities facing outages

Tuesday's maintenance will affect the largest number of communities, spanning areas such as Gomoa Mpota, Gomoa Mampong, Gomoa Adawukwa, Gomoa Okyereko, Atekyedo, Gyatekrom, Water Headworks, Bosbongpanyin, Ghyahadzi, Gyengyenadzi, Gomoa Tweikukrom, Nsuekyire, Worabeba, Gomoa Tekyem, Gomoa Panfokrom, Gomoa Adzintem, Gomoa Potsin, Gomoa Dominase, Gomoa Dabanyin, Gomoa Buduatta, Gomoa Amanda, Gomoa Odomase, Asebu, Brebia, Apewosika, and Old Ebu.

On Wednesday, August 26, Old Ebu Tee-Off and parts of Ankamu Junction will be without power, together with Gomoa Ajumako, Gomoa Akwakrom, Gomoa Nkransh, Gomoa Obokrom, Gomoa Kumasi, Gomoa Enyame, Gomoa Dankyie, Gomoa Koforidua, Gomoa Dawurampong, Gomoa Nduam, Gomoa Wassa, Gomoa Nkran, Gomoa Esikuman, Gomoa Debiso, Gomoa Darman, Gomoa Abonko, Gomoa Lome, and Gomoa Ogun.

Thursday's outages will be more limited in scope, with Brimsu Apewosika and Putubiw listed as the primary affected areas.

ECG noted that communities surrounding all named locations should also expect possible disruptions on their respective maintenance days.

Volta Region also affected on Tuesday

In the Volta Region, residents in parts of Golokwati and nearby communities will experience supply interruptions on Tuesday, August 25, between the same hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

ECG expressed regret over the inconvenience the outages may cause and assured customers that the maintenance work is essential for delivering long-term improvements to electrical service across the affected areas.

Customers in the listed communities are advised to make necessary preparations ahead of the scheduled outage windows.

GMet lists areas to experience rain today

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Ghana Meteorological Agency had issued its morning weather forecast for Monday, August 24, 2026.

Mist and fog patches were expected along the coast, forest and mountainous areas early in the day.

Thunderstorms and rain were forecast to affect the middle, transition and northern sectors in the afternoon and evening.
