Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that photos of properties belonging to the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, have leaked online.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, a mansion, located at 15315 Mountain Crest Cr Haymarket, VA 20169 was valued by Prince William County Property Assessment to cost $850,000.
The said property was in the name of Pastor Mensah Otabil, Joy Otabil and rented out to a 60-year-old Barbara A. Zimmer.
YEN.com.gh is yet to independently verify the accuracy of the information.
Pastor Mensa Otabil’s name has been making the rounds on social media lately, following the collapse of the Capital Bank, of which he served as Board Chairman.
YEN.com.gh understands that in a bid to save the distressed bank, the Bank of Ghana gave out GHC610 million, but the result was not as expected.
The bank is alleged to have diverted the money into buying properties and re-routing part back to the central bank to create another bank, the Sovereign Bank.
Since the collapse of Capital and Sovereign Banks, several state institutions -including the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), have been working to arrive at a comprehensive understanding of what happened and who was responsible for what; for which reason Pastor Otabil has been invited to respond to queries
He had sought to clear his name in the bank’s collapse, saying in a press release that he played a non-executive role and so was not involved in its day-to-day running.
The leader of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) noted that he accepted to be Board Chairman in a bid to help strengthen a promising Ghanaian enterprise that had potential but also challenges.
