More fraud cases involving jailed Stanbic staff emerge

- Jailed Stanbic employee, Martha Amakye, is set to face more fraud-related charges

- This comes after new details about fraud-related charges have been reported to the police

- Police officials are investigating the matter and will soon present the facts to a court

Martha Amakye, the jailed banker who worked with Stanbic Ghana Limited, is set to face more charges of fraud.

Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that this occurred after her 8-year jail sentence for stealing GHc1.8 million belonging to depositors.

In addition to her 8 year jail time, the court also directed the state agencies to take steps to retrieve the amounts that she from the customers, since she failed to refund it.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the bank expressed its appreciation to the police for picking Amakye up from her hideout at Ashaiman.

Fresh details coming in suggest that since her arrest, more people have lodged fraud-related complaints against her.

Others are also pressing civil charges against the incarcerated banker, who is at the Osu police station awaiting to be transferred to Nsawam to begin her 8-year jail term in hard labour.

It is was established that she will have to shuttle between prison and Accra Commercial Court, Tema, and other areas to face similar charges over her involvement in alleged widespread fraud which could compound her current jail term.

Police investigators, who are building a comprehensive docket to arraign her before the court on some of the charges, will not comment further on the matter.

They however stated that matter is being investigated and suspect could be arraigned before court soon.
