Veteran journalist Cyril Acolatse has died

- Cyril H. K. Acolatse, has died at the age of 77

- The veteran broadcaster passed on Monday, October 28, 2019

- He worked with state-owned GBC Radio and Television

Veteran journalist and broadcaster, Cyril Hary Kwasi Acolatse, has passed.

The former vice president of the Ghana Journalists Association (GIJ) died at age 77.

The family of the ace broadcaster confirmed his demise on Monday, October 28, 2019. He passed on at Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr. Acolatse was the assistant director of radio at GBC prior to his retirement.

Among the programs he hosted on Ghana Television were Focus, Searchlight, Insight, Topic, Talking Point and Public Concern.

He won the Outstanding Interviewer Award in 1989 and 1990.

He was also a former member of the National Media Commission (NMC).

In November 2013, the GJA honoured him with a Meritorious Award for his contribution to the journalism profession.

Family members say the funeral arrangements will be announced later.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Ghana’s parliament on Friday, October 25 approved visa waiver deal to six countries.

The visa waiver deal means Ghanaians who hold ordinary or diplomatic passports can now travel to India, Iran, Colombia, Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, and Hungary without a visa.
