Each newly-commissioned ambulance cost $133,000 - Minister reveals

The Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson has stated that the amount for each of the 307 ambulances cost $133,000.

According to Hawa Koomson, the amount stated for each of the ambulances includes all procurement processes and insurance.

In a JoyNews report, the minister said all the ambulances would be taken to the regions for inventory before they are handed over to the Constituencies without any funfair on their arrival.

“Each of the ambulances cost $133,000 with two years warranty and full premium insurance being handled by a local company,” she said.

She added that all the ambulances dispatched were fully furnished except for the 32 extra which would be sent to the headquarters of the National Ambulance Service.

The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has lauded President Akufo-Addo for not reneging on his promise of supplying ambulances to all the 275 constituencies in the country.

In showing his appreciation over the distribution, he said he can finally have a good sleep after the ambulances were distributed.

He had come under serious criticism over developments in the health sector including a promise by government to procure ambulances for every constituency.

Meanwhile, the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has revealed that John Dramani Mahama will definitely prosecute some appointees under the Akufo-Addo administration if he wins election 2020.

Mr. Gyamfi noted that the first NPP appointee that will be prosecuted will be the Minister for Special Development Initiative (SDI), Hawa Koomson.

He explained that the SDI Minister will face prosecution for causing financial loss to the country and also embezzlement of funds.
